Common Questions

What raw value makes grading worth it? +
At PSA Regular ($79.99), you generally need a card worth at least $40–60 raw with a realistic shot at PSA 9–10. At that point, a PSA 9 might sell for $120–150 and a PSA 10 for $200+. The math works. At $20 raw, the fees consume all upside unless you're using Value Bulk.
Does grading tier matter? +
Yes enormously. GameStop Drop-Off ($15.99–$19.99/card) is a game-changer for mid-value cards β€” it makes $30–50 raw cards worth submitting. Value Bulk ($24.99) requires a minimum submission count but is the best per-card rate for bulk submitters. Express ($149) is only worth it if you're flipping a card that's spiking right now.
My card is a PSA 8 candidate β€” should I submit? +
PSA 8 is the most common result. For most modern cards, a PSA 8 premium over raw is $10–30 β€” often not enough to cover the grading fee. Exceptions: high-demand players where PSA 8 still commands a significant pop-adjusted premium, or vintage cards where even PSA 8 is scarce in the population report.
What's the PSA 10 premium I should expect? +
For hot modern cards (Mahomes, LeBron, Luka rookies), PSA 10s typically sell for 3–5x raw. PokΓ©mon PSA 10s on key cards can be 5–10x raw. For mid-tier players, the premium is often only 1.5–2x raw, which may not justify fees. Always check the actual sold listings on eBay before submitting.
Should I use AI pre-grading before deciding? +
Yes β€” this calculator uses rough estimates. The Card Colony AI Analyzer examines your actual card photos and gives you a more accurate condition assessment, identifying specific issues (off-centering measurements, corner flaws, surface scratches) that could drop your grade.
